San Antonio Missions. There are 4 missions to the south of San Antonio, strung out along the river. All are still in use as churches, an well as being National Historic Sites operated by the National Park Service. I made good use of the late afternoon "golden hour" on a recent trip to see the Rolling Stones. All the missions are really beautiful and I can't believe it took me 23 years to finally get down there and see them. There's an historic trail that connects them all, which makes for a nice drive as you cover the two or three miles between each mission.
